A Truly Lousy experience- the Immigration museum was closed, all the trams and tours were "out of order" and the cafe was closed for renovations. That left us at the ferry terminal for 2.5 hours, wa… Full review by Curt M

I’m confused about how to get to the island from Oakland. From what I can tell, you go from Oakland to SF to the island...but what pier in SF? Ferry building or Pier 41? Is it a single ticket from Oakland, or do I need to purchase another ticket in SF?

Hi, not sure about Oakland but once you get to San Fran it’s easy - the tourist pier is pier 39 and the tickets for angel island are sold in a booth alongside pier 39 - anyone can direct you and it’s well advertised. The ferries run from a terminal behind the booth and, again, anyone will point you there and they’re clearly marked. You buy a single or return but you can’t stay on the island overnight (unless arranged with rangers) so the single is only relevant as you can get the ferry from angel island to another location, not necessarily back to the pier - although that would be easier hope this helps. There’s nothing there except a small cafe but it’s beautuful - enjoy

The Tram we rode was designated for the people that were part of the Alcatraz tour only. Granted that tour is seasonal for the summer months and maybe the Trams are used for other reasons outside of that time. But all the other people we saw were walking or riding bicycles. But if your cabin is not close to the marina, there has to be something offered due to the size of the island.
