Armaththwaite hotel, and other venues have this amazing ,quiet , tranquil, lake, surrounded by peaks and mountains. Wild swimming is superb, temperature mild , and access easyFull review by Andrew I

This is strictly the only lake in the Lake District and the most northerly. It's picturesque as you drive beside it going south to Keswick. Not as populated by tourists and hikers as the other lakes.Full review by BelMac633

We had an amazing walk along the lake and had some amazing views of the lake, however it can get busy with people swimming and stand up paddleboard.Full review by vickylouise2020

Hi, good to read your review of cycling around Bassenthwaite Lake. We are staying northern end of the lake, i'm an ok cyclist with only a reasonable fitness. Please could you tell me if the cycling you are referring to is road or off road, relatively flat or hilly? We really want to avoid any road riding at all. Which side of the lake at the northern end is do-able? Is it bridleway? Thank you for you help!

Hello, I'm sorry you have been misinformed, we didn't cycle round Bassenthwaite lake. Just had a brilliant stay at the Armathwaite Hall Hotel.
