Trump signed an executive order to limit birthright citizenship on his first day back in office. It directed federal agencies to refuse to recognize citizenship for children born in the U.S. who do not have at least one parent who is a citizen or a lawful permanent resident.

During the scheduling hearing, the attorney said it's his understanding that the government won't make deportations or removals under its birthright citizenship policy before July 27, when a U.S. Supreme Court ruling goes into effect ending nationwide injunctions.
