Bihar: 21 houses were set on fire in Bihar’s Nawada district late night on Wednesday. The preliminary investigation revealed that a land dispute had led to the incident in Manjhi Tola falling into the area of the Mufassil police station. Around 20 to 25 homes belonging to Dalit families were set on fire in Nawada, Bihar, on Wednesday night. The incident occurred in Manjhi Tola within the jurisdiction of Mufassil Police station and was reportedly triggered by a land dispute.

Twenty-one thatched homes belonging to members of the Ravidas and Manjhi Scheduled Castes were torched in Bihar’s Nawada district on Wednesday in an alleged land grab attempt, reported The Indian Express.

SP in Nawada Abhinav Dheeman said 15 accused including the main accused Nandu Paswan, a resident of Pranpur village, has been arrested in this connection

Preliminary investigation suggested that a land dispute could be the cause behind the incident that happened in Manjhi Tola in Mufassil police station area.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar condemned the incident in Nawada and emphasised the need to “apprehend all suspects as quickly as possible” and stressed that “those who take the law into their own hands must be caught and punished.

In Bihar's Nawada district, 15 people have been arrested after 21 houses were set on fire, likely due to a land dispute. Authorities are providing relief materials and temporary shelters for the displaced.

Nawada District Magistrate Ashutosh Kumar Verma confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident further.
