Thirty-seven years to the day, the state of Texas is set to execute Wood for the killing of six of those victims, who bodies were found strangled and raped in a Northeast El Paso desert. Wood is scheduled to be executed after 5 p.m. Thursday, March 13, at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Huntsville Unit prison.

Wood’s attorneys have requested that more than 100 additional pieces of evidence be tested for DNA, but the state has opposed the request for over a decade.

Wood's conviction of the murders of six women and girls in El Paso, Texas in 1987 was largely based on circumstantial evidence. He's set for execution March 13.
