A campaign is ongoing to vaccinate children in Gaza after its first polio case in 25 years. The threat to the United States is only in communities with low vaccination levels.

The Palestinian Health Ministry administered polio vaccinations for children in the Jabaliya Refugee Camp in northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

The campaign in north Gaza, the part of the territory hardest hit by Israel's 11-month military offensive against Hamas militants, follows the vaccination of more than 446,000 Palestinian children in central and south Gaza earlier this month.

Israel proposed giving Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar safe passage out of Gaza in exchange for the group freeing the hostages it holds and giving up control of the strip, a senior official said, even as doubts deepen about the two sides’ ability to reach any cease-fire accord.
