Neither Israel nor Gaza are members of the court. But while many nations do not recognize a State of Palestine, the court has done so since 2015, when leaders of the Palestinian Authority, which controls much of the West Bank, signed on.

Benjamin Netanyahu has become the fourth world leader to be issued with an arrest warrant for crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC). It puts him alongside Vladimir Putin of Russia, Omar al-Bashir of Sudan, and Muammar Gaddafi of Libya.

Germany says it is 'examining' its possible response to the ICC arrest warrant against Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Germany supports the ICC, but is also committed to its special relationship with Israel.
