Brazil's top public prosecutor is not likely to issue any indictments until next year for former President Jair Bolsonaro, members of his government and military officers who allegedly planned a coup after his 2022 election defeat,

Police have formally accused Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro and 36 other people of attempting a coup to keep the right-wing leader in office after his defeat in the 2022 elections.

Federal police accused Bolsonaro of “full knowledge” of a 2022 plot to kill his successor, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and overturn the results of the presidential election.
