By now, most fans of the Boston Celtics have caught wind that injured star Boston big man Kristaps Porzingis is nearing a return to the court in recent days. The Latvian center has been an ubiquitous presence around the Celtics, with Porzingis traveling and practicing with the team.

Kristaps Porzingis has been assigned to the Boston Celtics' G League team, the Maine Celtics, so he can practice with them at the Auerbach Center on Monday afternoon. Boston big man Xavier Tillman will also practice with Maine,

Porzingis was the only Celtics player unavailable for Tuesday’s game. Sixth man Payton Pritchard was listed as questionable Monday with a sprained left thumb but was upgraded to available before the game.

He had been increasing the frequency and intensity of individual drills and workouts with assistant coaches, but this session with the team’s G League affiliate was the first sign that he could make his debut soon.

The Celtics don't need Porzingis for them to be an elite team. They do need him if they want to be the clear-cut favorites to win another championship. Celtics fans should be excited for his inevitable return because when he gets his legs back under him, the team could be unstoppable.

The Boston Celtics received great news regarding Kristaps Porzingis’s potential return earlier in the week. On Monday, Porzingis practiced with the Maine Celtics, the Celtics’ G League team. He is on track to get back to playing before the end of the year.
