A huge row has erupted after Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the ghee used in preparing the famous laddus, given as prasad, by the renowned Tirupati temple was mixed with animal fat.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that there was a usage of “animal fat” instead of ghee in the laddus offered at Tirupati shrine.

The laddus offered to devotees as 'prasadam' at Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati Temple contain fish oil and animal fat, according to a lab report. While YSRCP accused Chandrababu Naidu of indulging in “heinous allegations” and TDP circulated the lab report to back the claim.

The Telugu Desam Party has claimed that a Gujarat-based lab confirmed the presence of animal fat in Tirupati laddu, including beef tallow, lard, and fish oil. The lab report has not been officially confirmed by the Andhra Pradesh government or the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.

Naidu alleged that the previous YSRCP government compromised the Sri Venkateswara temple by using substandard ingredients and animal fat in the Tirupati laddus.

The Tirupati laddu is distributed at the revered Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, which is run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
