The Marietta Police Department mourns the passing of retired K9 Atos, who served in various law enforcement capacities.

"You were both a fine police officer and a good boy!" a Facebook post Sunday said of K9 Atos. According to Marietta Police, K9 Atos served from March 2015 to June 2022. He worked alongside handlers Sgt. (then officer) Ray Figueroa and Officer Aaron Johnson. He was born on October 29, 2013.

A retired Marietta Police Department K-9 died on Sunday, according to the agency. 11-year-old K-9 Atos died Sunday, police said. Atos joined the K-9 ranks in March 2015 and retired in 2022. The police department said Atos “served as a dual-purpose canine trained in narcotics detection,

K9 Atos served with the Marietta Police Department for over seven years and was known for his loyalty and goofy nature.

Initially, he was partnered with Officer Ray Figueroa, until his promotion to sergeant in May 2019. K9 Atos was then partnered with Officer Aaron Johnson until he retired in June of 2022. The department describe him as loyal, goofy and sweet.
