Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) on Tuesday said House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) call to abruptly shut down the lower chamber ahead of schedule was a calculated decision to block a vote on the release of files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and was likely made at the direction of President Donald Trump.

The Republican speaker truncated the legislative schedule for the week ahead of a summer recess, moving to deny Democrats the chance to force votes on whether to release the Epstein material.
