The wave of exploding pagers that injured nearly 3,000 and killed at least nine, including a 9-year-old girl, in Lebanon and Syria on Tuesday was a stunning and unexpected blow against Israel’s longtime foe,

At around 3:30 in the afternoon on Tuesday, the pagers across Lebanon began beeping, delivering a message from Hezbollah leadership to their operatives through a chorus of chimes, melodies, and buzzes.

Hassan Nasrallah says the exploding device attacks are "a declaration of war" which paid "no heed to innocent people".

Lebanon and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday that killed 37 people and wounded around 3,000, although Israel has not directly commented on the attacks, which security sources say were probably carried out by its Mossad spy agency.

"God is almighty and avenging," Masoud Pezeshkian said, following the attacks with electronic devices that killed dozens and wounded thousands.

Hezbollah threatened Israel after thousands of its members’ pagers exploded across Lebanon, killing 12. Israel has not commented on whether it was responsible.

The Israeli Air Force launched renewed attacks on Lebanon on Thursday, as tensions run high following the waves of coordinated blasts involving Lebanese electronic devices widely attributed to Israel.
