North Carolina voters won’t know until at least Monday — nearly a month after Election Day — who won the race for a seat on the state Supreme Court.

Riggs, who leads Griffin in the Supreme Court race, said her own parents had their votes challenged by Republican election protests.

North Carolina county election boards began their recounts Wednesday in a much-watched Supreme Court contest in which just over 600 votes separate the Democratic and Republican candidates.

On Tuesday, the embattled North Carolina State Board of Elections is scheduled to certify the 2024 election. The majority of the election results from 2,658 precincts across the state are expected to be approved,

Recount to begin for a close North Carolina Supreme Court race between Jefferson G. Griffin and Allison Riggs.

Four Legislature races and one state Supreme Court race were not certified by the North Carolina State Board of Elections on Tuesday. Notably, the state’s sole Supreme Court race between Democratic incumbent Allison Riggs and Republican challenger Jefferson Griffin is one of those currently under both recount and protest.

The North Carolina Elections Board has certified the results from the November election. More than 5.7 million voters were counted, which is a 73% turnout. However, 10 races are going to a recount. ALSO READ: Trump fills out his economic team with two veterans of his first administration Those races include the race between Woodson Bradley and Stacie McGinn for the Mecklenburg County Senate seat and the Mecklenburg County House race between Tricia Cotham and Nicole Sidman.

The Justice Department is getting involved in a lawsuit brought by the Republican Party against the North Carolina Board of Elections. According to Democracy Docket, the RNC is disputing the board's guidance about absentee ballots that are not in a sealed return envelope.
