Rishabh Pant created history at the IPL 2025 mega-auction by joining Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 27 crore. The wicketkeeper-batsman was confirmed to emerge as one of the costliest picks and he lived up to the hype.

"Goodbyes are never easy...,' Pant wrote on Instagram. Talking about his nine-year-long journey with the Delhi franchise, Pant admitted he grew in several ways while playing there.

Just before Rishabh Pant’s record-breaking bid, Punjab Kings (PBKS) grabbed headlines by signing Shreyas Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore, briefly making him the most expensive player in IPL history.

A total of 182 players were sold across two days, for a whopping ₹639.15 crore. Rishabh Pant of LSG, emerged as most expensive buy at ₹27 crores. Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest cricketer to get an IPL contract at 13 years.

LSG's massive bid for Pant eclipsed Shreyas Iyer's record as the tournament's costliest player within minutes. Earlier,  Punjab Kings had shattered the record by acquiring Iyer for Rs 26.75 crore.
