The Sabres’ first action after Thanksgiving did not go as planned last night, as the blue and gold were defeated in OT by the Vancouver Canucks. The team has a chance to get right back on the saddle on the road against the New York Islanders.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who scored in the first meeting between the Sabres and Islanders at the start of the month, missed Friday’s game in Washington and is considered day to day. He joined a list of injured forwards that already included last season’s leading point scorer, Mathew Barzal, as well as offseason addition Anthony Duclair.

The New York Islanders’ (8-10-6) slow descent continued yesterday afternoon in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. The Washington Capitals stormed back from down 4-2 in the third period to win 5-4 in overtime.
