Rumors are swirling that Six Flags Great Adventure's Kingda Ka roller coaster is closing, and fans are outpouring love for the world's tallest thrill ride.

Kingda Ka made its debut in 2005, and at the time it was coined as the largest and fastest coaster in the world, surpassing Top Thrill Dragster.

The park has not filed at notice with the state that the ride is shutting down, Lisa Ryan, a spokesperson for the state Department of Community Affairs, told NJ Advance Media. Theme parks are not required to submit notice of closure, they would just let the permit lapse if not opening the ride for the next season, she said.
