DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers will give Kerry Carpenter’s nagging hamstring injury an extended rest. The Tigers plan to place Carpenter on the 10-day injured list before Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Nationals. Shortstop Trey Sweeney will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to take his spot.

As expected, the Detroit Tigers have placed outfielder Kerry Carpenter on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury. In his place they’ve recalled shortstop Trey Sweeney from Triple-A Toledo. Carpenter has spent much of the past two months playing with intermittent hamstring pain and tightness.
