Ride-hailing app Uber has launched its first water transport service in India, with a booking of a shikara at Dal Lake in Srinagar through its app, a senior company official said on Monday.   The company introduced the first service of its kind in Asia.

Uber Shikara marks a significant milestone for the company as it is the first water transport offering in Asia after similar services in select European countries like Italy.

Each ride, accommodating up to four passengers, can be booked for a one-hour duration between 10 am and 5 pm from Shikara Ghat No. 16. Reservations are available up to 12 hours in advance and can be made as far as 15 days ahead.
