The Houston Chronicle, Texas's top selling newspaper, has published an editorial fiercely critical of Governor Greg Abbott over his rhetoric and decision to deploy Texas National Guard troops in response to protests against immigration enforcement,

Gov. Abbott has released details of the National Guard and DPS deployment after Texas lawmakers demanded a briefing for the sake of coordination.

The massive deployment represents more than 20% of the state’s military forces and roughly half of the Texas Department of Public Safety commissioned officers.
