Bumrah’s spellbinding hauls of five for 30 and three for 42 helped him overtake Australia seamer Josh Hazlewood and South Africa's Kagiso Rabada to reach a career-best 883 rating points, the highest rating points tally ever by an India seam bowler.

Bumrah picked eight wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings, and claimed Player of the Match honours in Perth, where he was leading India in Rohit Sharma’s absence.
