Preliminary investigation suggested that a land dispute could be the cause behind the incident that happened in Manjhi Tola in Mufassil police station area.

Initially, it was reported that over 80 houses were gutted in the incident on Wednesday night, but Bihar police have put the number at 21.

A fact-finding team was inspecting the incident of burning down houses in Bihar's Nawada district. Fifteen people have been detained, with more arrests expected.

The houses at Krishna Nagar Mahadalit settlements were set on fire allegedly by a land mafia in a bid to usurp vacant government land.
