PATNA: Bihar's governing National Democratic Alliance (NDA) swept the bypolls to four assembly constituencies on Saturday, retaining Imamganj and capturing Tarari, Ramgarh and Belaganj from INDIA bloc.

Prashant Kishor highlighted the fact that his fledgling Jan Suraaj won 10 per cent of the total votes polled in four seats, while rubbishing the claim that it had played a role in the RJD's defeat.

Prashant Kishor of the Jan Suraaj on Saturday dubbed the NDA's win in assembly bypolls in Bihar “a matter of concern” despite the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition's “failure” to end the state's chronic backwardness during its decades-long rule.

NDA sweeps Bihar bypolls with 52.83% voter turnout, defeating opposition parties, including Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj party.

The IPAC founder, who had a brief stint in the JD(U), insisted that the party's supremo Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, was a "spent force" and its candidate, former MLC Manorama Devi, had won on her own steam.

Jan Suraaj candidates failed to make a significant impact, finishing third in three constituencies and one in the fourth position.

Despite failing to secure any victories in their first attempt, Kishor expressed that he remains undeterred by the outcome.

The BJP went ahead of the RJD and Jan Suraaj to win all four by-poll seats- Tarari, Ramgarh, Belaganj and Imamganj.
