The Western Journal on MSNTrump Admin EPA Chief to Ax 'Climate Participation Trophy' Feature on Cars That 'Everyone Hates'EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin said the federal government is pulling the plug on a program that handed out incentives to automakers who install start/stop technology in their vehicles. The technology shuts off an engine when a car comes to a full stop.
On Wednesday, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin testified before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
The EPA is targeting stop-start vehicle technology that automatically turns off a car's engine when it is stopped at red lights to save fuel.
“I find many of them problematic,” Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), chair of the Senate Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, told EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin during a hearing on the White House’s fiscal 2026 budget blueprint.
The EPA is overhauling its staffing and offices to cut taxpayer funds going to the agency and to bring its workforce down to Reagan-era levels, Administrator Zeldin announced.
Mr. Zeldin has promised a rollback in regulations at the EPA. He has announced the biggest deregulatory action in American history, saying it will save trillions of dollars in regulatory costs and hidden “taxes” on Americans.
EPA previously held a state-specific "water policy" event with West Virginia officials, which focused on carbon injection wells.
