Launched on August 16, 2024, ISRO's EOS-08 Earth observation satellite showcases advanced thermal imaging capabilities with its Electro Optical-Infrar

The Electro Optical-Infrared (EOIR) payload aboard ISRO’s latest Earth Observation Satellite (EOS), commenced its operations successfully, ISRO announced on Thursday.

Launched on August 16, 2024, via Isro's Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), the EOS-08 mission marks a significant advancement in thermal imaging technology.

Chairperson, S Somanath, stated on Friday that while the Gaganyaan mission is set for launch by the end of the year, caution is paramount. Gaganyaan, India's inaugural human spaceflight mission, received approval from the Union cabinet earlier this week.

The Gaganyaan Programme approved in December 2018 envisages undertaking human spaceflight to Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and laying the foundation of technologies needed for an Indian human space exploration programme in the long run.

Although Gaganyaan is ready for launch by the end of the year, we should proceed with caution, said Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S Somanath on Friday.

Somnath specifically talked about Chandrayaan-4, which has been allocated Rs 2,104.06 crore, in an exclusive interview with NDTV and explained how the next lunar mission is a natural successor to Chandrayaan-3.
