The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance secured decisive victories across Pune's 21 constituencies, with Ajit Pawar's NCP faction emerging as a strong contender in critical seats like Baramati and Hadapsar.

The ruling NDA alliance of BJP, Sena (Shinde camp) and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) has put up its best-ever performance in Maharashtra winning 235 of the 288 assembly seats and restricting the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance to a score of 49 seats.

When the verdict of the Lok Sabha elections was announced in June, resentment among farmers in Maharashtra was seen as a major factor behind BJP's dismal performance in the state, along with nervousness among Scheduled Caste voters who feared the party might amend the Constitution if it returned with 400-plus seats.
