With 'Nickel Boys' taking Best Film, the National Society of Film Critics also recognized 'A Real Pain', 'Sing Sing' and 'Hard Truths'.

Nickel Boys was named best picture in the 59th National Society Of Film Critics vote on Saturday, while Payal Kapadia earned the best director award for her Indian drama All We Imagine As Light.

Voting for the National Society of Film Critics Awards is underway, with films like “Nickel Boys” and “A Real Pain” taking home top honors. “Nickel Boys” took home the Best Picture prize with “Anora” and “All We Imagine as Light” as runner ups.

Colson Whitehead’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Nickel Boys, is based on the harrowing true story of a hellish reform school, Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys in Florida, at which more than 100 students died from abuse.
