Shohei Ohtani takes legal action to recover $325,000 worth of stolen sports cards after fraud and betrayal by former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara.

Onetime assistant Ippei Mizuhara is in “unauthorized and wrongful possession” of the collectibles, the Los Angeles Dodgers superstar says.

Mizuhara is due to be sentenced in January after pleading guilty in May to one count of bank fraud and one count of subscribing to a false tax return. Mizuhara faces a maximum of 33 years in prison.

Shohei Ohtani is seeking ownership of baseball cards that were bought by his former interpreter. The cards are worth nearly $325,000.
