Heavy rain is causing flash flooding in the area. Many roads are shut down, and some schools are canceling classes because of high water in the streets. Severe flooding has shut down roads in St. Louis County Tuesday morning after seven inches of rain fell in the past 24 hours,

A business owner in the area saw the SUV submerged and told officers, who had been in the area all morning because of the flooding, police said.

A woman was found dead inside a car on Bayless Avenue Tuesday after floodwaters receded from the roadway. Gravois Creek flooded the roadway during heavy rains Tuesday morning, and first responders rescued people that were stranded by the water.
