New Delhi, December 4 (IANS): Narain Singh Chaura, an alleged associate of the banned pro-Khalistan group Babbar Khalsa, was arrested on Wednesday morning for attempting to fire on former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal, at the Golden Temple's gate in Amritsar.

Bhullar praised their efforts, saying, “Due to the alertness and deployment of our police, this attack attempt was foiled. Our personnel displayed alertness and foiled the attempts. Narain Singh Chaura, who has a criminal record, has been arrested. A case has been registered. There were adequate arrangements for Sukhbir Singh Badal's security.”

Narain Singh Chaura is a former Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist and he fired at Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Badal at the entrance of the Golden Temple in Amritsar from close range.

Earlier in the day, Narain Singh Chaura, a former Khalistani militant, attempted to fire at former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal when he was sitting on guard duty as part of his religious sentence outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
