Kendrick Lamar has surprise-released his new album “GNX,” featuring contributions from Jack Antonoff, SZA and Kamasi Washington. The 12-track “GNX” is relatively light on features, with the exception of two tracks — “Luther” and “Gloria” — that feature SZA.

Last month, a Kendrick Lamar collaborator tweeted, “ mood cause new k dot album otwwww ,” and SZA shared the tweet in an Instagram Story. Well, it turns out a new project indeed was on the way: Today (November 22), Lamar, with no advanced promo whatsoever, released a surprise new album, GNX. He also shared a video for the title track.
That morning, the 49-year-old mariachi singer from Tucson, Arizona, woke up to a text from a friend, telling her that Kendrick Lamar had surprise-released GNX — and Barrera’s vocals opened the album.
