Security has been beefed up in and around the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Tripura following an attempt to "breach peace" during submission of a memorandum by a group of people on Monday,

Widespread protests erupted in Tripura's Agartala as demonstrators staged a protest outside Bangladesh Assistant High Commissioner office.

India on Monday described as "deeply regrettable" an incident of breach of the premises of Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala by a group of people protesting against the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in the neighbouring country.

This statement from the Ministry of External Affairs comes just hours after over 50 people, who were protesting against the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, allegedly entered the premises of the Bangladeshi mission in Agartala on Monday.
