An arctic air mass blanketed City on Sunday night, dumping several inches of snow and ushering in a deep freeze that grounded flights at airports across the city and New Jersey, and slowed traffic and public transportation on bridges and roadways.

The bitter cold becomes the big story after Sunday's snow with wind chills that will make it feel like zero for the first half of the week. Snow began falling by early Sunday afternoon with several inches expected to fall across New York City and the Tri-State area before it's over.
