Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin participated in his team’s practice session Wednesday in Cranberry. One day earlier, he was scratched because of an undisclosed injury for a 4-3 home shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The team announced that Malkin has been activated off injured reserve and that forward Jesse Puljujarvi has been re-assigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Malkin was placed on the IR Sunday before missing his fourth consecutive game due to an upper-body injury.

John Klinberg has made his decision on a new home for 2024-25. The marquee veteran defenseman has signed with the Edmonton Oilers on Friday per NHL insider Darren Dreger. "John Klingberg heading to the Oilers," Dreger said on X. Edmonton was reported to be the front-runner to sign Klingberg, so this decision does not come as a massive shock.

The Buffalo Sabres made a pair of transactions Saturday, placing center Ryan McLeod on the injured reserve, while goaltender Devon Levi was recalled from the AHL’s Rochester Americans.
