The 76ers are heading into the second leg of a back-to-back, as they handily beat the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Tuesday night. Star guard Tyrese Maxey dominated with 43 points with co-stars Paul George and Joel Embiid sidelined.

Joel Embiid has been absent from the 76ers' games 28 times this season, but Andre Drummond came to his defense given his injury situation.

Andre Drummond gives an update on his injury recovery ahead of his expected return for the Philadelphia 76ers.

Embiid, who has been out since Jan. 4 with a foot sprain and knee swelling stemming from last year's meniscus surgery, was a partial participant in Monday's practice, the team said.

Embiid, Guerschon Yabusele (knee) and KJ Martin (foot stress reaction) were partial participants. Yabusele missed two games after knee-to-knee contact Jan. 15 against the Knicks but has played the last three, including both halves of the Cleveland-Chicago back-to-back. He was listed as probable.

The 76ers still think Joel Embiid, who’s played in just 13 games this season, is a franchise-level player. “We’re still really happy with Joel,” 76ers majority owner Josh Harris told The Athletic

Embiid, who is averaging 24.4 points and 7.9 rebounds, has already been ruled out against the Kings. George, who averages 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals, is day-to-day with an extensor tendon injury in his left pinkie finger.

Things haven’t boded well for Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers throughout the 2024-25 NBA season. And with Embiid having several absences, Andre Drummond came to the star’s defense.
