Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama is not happy with the referees, but doesn't want to make that his focus on the court.
Spurs star Victor Wembanyama's frustration boiled over against the Clippers when he was shoved to the court by Ivica Zubac.
Frustrated with what he perceives as a lack of foul calls against his opponents, Victor Wembanyama called out NBA officials following the Los Angeles Clippers' 128-116 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
If there was any fear about Victor Wembanyama's adjustment to the NBA, it had to do with his frame. Wembanyama is one of the NBA's tallest players at 7-foot-3, but he is very skinny for his height and will almost certainly bulk up with more time in San Antonio's strength and conditioning program.
"It's very possible that he'll be the face of basketball. Not just NBA basketball, but world basketball," said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle.
The star center took exception to a cheap shot delivered by Ivica Zubac in a 128-116 loss that extended the Spurs' home losing streak to five games.
Wemby went 1-for-4 in the second quarter as the Clippers ramped up their intensity on defense against him. Devin Vasell took over for Wembanyama and delivered nine points and one assist in the period. San Antonio surrendered the lead to trail 67-60 at halftime.
Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell had 27 points each and the Los Angeles Clippers rallied to beat the San Antonio Spurs 128-116 on Wednesday night.
The San Antonio star charged after Ivica Zubac after the Los Angeles center shoved him to the court during the Clippers' 128-116 victory over the Spurs on Wednesday night.
Zubac yelled at the officials earlier in the third quarter for not calling a foul on Harrison Barnes after the Spurs forward blocked his layup. The frustration boiled over when Wembanyama blocked Zubac's attempted dunk with 4:49 remaining in the third quarter and no foul was called.
The Spurs rookie aggressively charged toward Zubac, clearly ready to confront the Clippers big man. Teammates and coaches quickly intervened to prevent the situation from escalating further. However, this encounter has also brought attention to Wembanyama’s growth in the league.
