Writer of Conan O'Brien's Oscar monologue explains Kendrick Lamar/Drake joke; calls it 'culturally relevant'
In response to a variety of feedback and opinions on social media, the writer of the Drake and Kendrick quip, Skyler Higley, thanked the powers that be for keeping the joke in the telecast, and has clarified the relevance of having the joke as part of the ceremony to begin with.
After hosting the 2025 Oscars ceremony, Conan O'Brien is offering insight into the origin of his memorable monologue bit with Adam Sandler. O'Brien told Entertainment Tonight after the telecast that he initially reached out to his former Saturday Night Live colleague to involve him in a different way for the Academy Awards.
