Former Chicago Bears head coach Thomas Brown is joining the staff of New England Patriots next head coach Mike Vrabel.

The New England Patriots are hiring former Chicago Bears interim head coach and offensive coordinator Thomas Brown to be their tight ends coach and pass game coordinator, per NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.

As the New England Patriots aim to revitalize their offense under the new leadership of Mike Vrabel, they could look to set their sights on one of the Chicago Bears’ key players.

Vrabel has a mix of experience and youth on his Patriots coaching staff, including Doug Marrone, Thomas Brown and Ashton Grant on offense.

Brown is the first known candidate to interview for the Patriots' offensive coordinator job under Vrabel. He interviewed for the position last season as well before the team ultimately hired Alex Van Pelt. Under Van Pelt's watch in 2024, New England gained just 291.9 yards per game (31st) and scored just 17 points per game (30th).
