Various airline-related staffing and regulatory changes were made on the heels of President Donald Trump‘s inauguration, just nine days before a tragic midair collision resulted in the deaths of 64 people.

An American Airlines plane with 60 passengers and four crew members on board collided with a military helicopter near Washington, D.C., on Wednesday night, plunging into the Potomac River.

The airline and government officials were unable to give updates on the 64 passengers onboard the flight or the three people on the helicopter.
