The wildfire burning in the Florida Everglades rapidly expanded to 22,000 acres on Thursday, from 3,600 acres on Wednesday. Newsweek reached out to the Florida Forest Service by email for comment.
"It will not take much to get a brush or grass fire to flare up and rapidly spread," one meteorologist told Newsweek.
