The Senate has confirmed Marco Rubio as secretary of state, giving President Donald Trump the first member of his Cabinet.

Rubio is among the least controversial of Trump’s nominees and a vote on the Florida Republican was set for early evening.

The full Senate has just approved Marco Rubio to be President Trump’s secretary of state, 99-0. Rubio, 53, has still not formally resigned his Senate seat, though that will surely follow soon.

Rubio’s confirmation vote passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, 99-0. Rubio also was able to cast a vote for himself.
