England, United Kingdom - November 22, 2024 A bomb threat prompted the closure of the US Embassy in London on Friday, November 22. Armed officers arrived at the building in Nine Elms following a report of a suspicious package.

The United States embassy in London has entered lockdown due to a ‘security alert’. Armed police and fire services were photographed outside of the building in Nine Elms, London. Metropolitan Police said in a statement: ‘We’re aware of speculation online about an incident in the vicinity of the US Embassy in Nine Elms.

The US Embassy was placed in lockdown as armed officers swooped on a suspicious package that is now thought to have been a hoax device. Armed officers from the Met Police arrived at the building in Nine Elms, south west London, following reports of a suspicious package on at around 10am on Friday.
