Judge Holds New York City in Contempt Over Conditions at City Jails
In a 65-page ruling, U.S. District Court Judge Laura Swain of the Southern District of New York found the city in contempt on 18 claims. Plaintiffs, represented by the Legal Aid Society and Emery Celli Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Maazel, filed the class action to address the brutality within New York City's jail facilities in 2012.
