A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Denton and Cooke counties until 5 p.m. Storms in those areas northwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex are capable of producing up to quarter-sized hail, according to the National Weather Service.

A better chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives this weekend. While it could rain at any point, the better chance favors Saturday evening. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy and mild. Our storm chances will continue into Sunday and Monday. 1 to 4 inches of rainfall could be possible across the area.

We may see some lingering showers early Saturday morning, but the clouds will turn to sun and drier air will make for a nice day with highs in the low 70s.
