As the San Francisco Bay Area enters the seventh day of a historic heat wave, forecasters are warning people to drink plenty of water and stay inside.

As a brutal heat wave continued in the Bay Area Sunday, officials issued an alert urging residents ... according to the weather service. An excessive heat warning is in place for Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco and Santa Clara counties.

“All of the heat warnings and advisories — they’ve all been extended,” NWS meteorologist Nicole Sarment said. “We’ve got a tiny disturbance (Friday), and the main threat from that will be an increase in winds, and there’s some degree of moisture. But this isn’t over yet.”
