Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus will undergo surgery for an ACL injury sustained in the team’s FA Cup loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus will need surgery on a serious knee injury as Gunners boss Mikel Arteta scrambles to replace the Brazilian in the January transfer window.

“Further to being substituted during our match with Manchester United on Sunday, Gabriel Jesus has received extensive assessments, scans and specialist reviews which have confirmed that he has sustained an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee,” Arsenal said in a statement on Tuesday night.

Arsenal announced Gabriel Jesus suffered an ACL injury in his left knee against Manchester United in the FA Cup with the striker set to undergo surgery.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has admitted Gabriel Jesus' knee injury is "not looking good," with sources telling ESPN the club fear he will miss the remainder of the season.

Mikel Arteta says the “necessity” for Arsenal to add to their squad has ramped up after injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. Saka tore his hamstring in December and will be out of action until at least March, while Jesus is set for a long spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee earlier this month.

Manager Arteta has spoken of the need to recruit in attack and he has now revealed how Arsenal are ready to “adapt” their transfer plans. Arsenal were looking to sign a forward this summer, but those plans could be brought forward to this month.
