Erik and Lyle Menendez are set for a Monday court hearing after their lawyers requested a judge review potential new evidence and consider vacating their first-degree murder convictions for the 1989 killings of their parents.

A Los Angeles County judge on Monday postponed a hearing over the possible release of Lyle and Erik Menendez after 35 years in prison for the shotgun murder of their parents, saying he wanted to hear from a new district attorney taking office next week.

Erik and Lyle Menendez’s efforts to reduce their life-without-parole prison terms have been in limbo after the ouster earlier this month of Los Angeles County’s top prosecutor, who recommended a new sentence that could clear the way for the brothers’ release.
