On Sunday the Yankees declined their $5 million club option on Lou Trivino, who becomes a free agent. The righty reliever arrived in the 2022 trade that also brought Frankie Montas to The Bronx, and neither stayed healthy.

The Yankees announced that they declined their $5M club option on Lou Trivino’s services for the 2025 season. No buyout was attached to the option, and the 33-year-old reliever will now head to the open market.

Trivino, 33, was traded by the Athletics to the Yankees on Aug. 1, 2023, with right-hander Frankie Montas for four minor-leaguers — left-handers J.P. Sears and Ken Waldichuk, right-hander Luis Medina and second baseman Cooper Bowman.
