Lawmakers are again mulling reforms to the state’s wildlife management and conservation agency, which has been roiled by accusations of politicization under the last two governors and plagued by high turnover on its governing board.

The New Mexico Game and Fish Department (NMGAFD) could soon be going by a new name; and that's not the only change lawmakers are proposing.

A package of bills will look to drastically change how the department is funded and regulated in the upcoming 60-day session in January.
