Shock and grief have given way to finger-pointing over whether additional security could have stopped — or mitigated — the recent attack that killed 14 people in New Orleans.

LeBlanc runs some of the city’s most popular restaurants and bars, two of which are just a few hundred feet away from where the attack ended on Bourbon Street: the Will & the Way and Peychaud’s. Business at LeBlanc + Smith’s French Quarter restaurants has been “incredibly slow” since the attack, but he isn’t thinking too much about that right now.

The FBI has also revised the number of people injured in terrorist Shadsud-Din Jabbar’s attack, increasing the number to from 37 to 57.

Before Shamsud-Din Jabbar attacked Bourbon Street in New Orleans, the FBI says he researched the city, reading up on recent shootings and a vehicle attack in Germany.

The FBI has found no evidence that a late-October visit to Tampa by the man behind a New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans was related to “criminal intent,” the agency announced Wednesday. It remains unclear exactly why Shamsud-Din Jabbar came to Tampa about nine weeks before he drove a rented truck through a crowd of people in New Orleans’ French Quarter and engaged in a fatal gunfight with police.
