On Friday, the NHL's Department of Player Safety announced that New York Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov would receive a hearing for a high hit on Philadelphia Flyers forward Ryan Poehling. The hit occurred in the first period of the game when Poehling was cutting to the low slot. Tsyplakov read the play and then laid an explosive hit:
